Day 1: Friday March
9, 2018:
We started our trip today after a fairly chaotic prior
day. I had a board meeting yesterday
morning then my dad came to pick up Hooper (sooooo nice) then dropped my car
off at Toyota then took a Lyft over to the rental car place to pick up a white
Kia Sedona minivan. Nick was rear-ended
the week before so he had to drop his rental off in Lewisville and take an Uber
back to the house then get Grant to practice and home in time for me to run to
FedEx (back by the airport) to pick up my Aggie Ring…whew.
Anyway, we kept the kids out of school today but ran by
there this morning because Grant thought he’d left his Kindle in his cubby but
it wasn’t there. We got on the road
around 7:30 am and drove until stopping for gas in Vernon, just NW of Wichita
Falls. Then we stopped in Memphis
(Texas) for lunch at the Rock Inn Café.
Nick and I walked on treadmills in the gym then we walked to
Genghis Grill – the kids hadn’t been there before and we hadn’t eaten there in
probably 10 years. It was good
enough. Now, with 641 miles in the
books, we’re relaxing in the room and planning tomorrow’s journey which
involves a few more states!
