National Park # 8 Crater Lake - (Day 2 continued) Aug 9, 2013

Once back in the car from our treacherous hike, we continued around the lake stopping a few more times at Pumice Castle Overlook (4:00) and Phantom Ship Overlook (5:00).

Pumice Castle Overlook (see the orangish thing on the right?)

We drove down to the Pinnacles Overlook, which I thought was pretty cool, then we stopped and had a picnic on the side of the road in front of a Videa Falls (5:30 o'clock) then headed back to the Visitors Center to catch a 20 minute film on how the lake was formed.

After the film, we heading back around to 12:00 (exited out of the north entrance) and drove 188 miles over to Florence, Oregon (on the coast).  We got in around 5:00 and the kids were thrilled with our hotel (the Driftwood Shores Resort - not in quotes this time).  We unpacked our stuff, got on our bathing suits and walked over to the hotel's indoor pool/spa/spray ground.  It was very nice to relax.  After swimming we headed out for pizza.  I think the place was called Abby's Legendary Pizza.  The kids played some games then we swung by the grocery store and went home.  By grocery store, I mean a Fred Meyers which was bigger than Ikea and wasn't just a grocery store.  It was a grocery store, nursery, clothing store, furniture store, etc., etc., etc.  In all the years we'd been coming to Oregon, we'd never gone inside one.  Wow.  Crazy.  Anyway, we picked us some eggs, OJ, whatnot, for breakfast.

It was a great day!
